From November to April, we offer our Winter Kayak Experience instead, specially adapted to the conditions during the colder months. It is a great way to experience Ålesund from the water throughout the winter season.

FAQ
What type of kayaks do we use?
We use stable tandem kayaks, with two people sharing kayak. They are well suited for beginners and provide a comfortable and safe experience, even if you have never kayaked before.
Do I need previous kayaking experience?
No, no previous experience is required. Before the tour, you will receive a safety briefing and an introduction to basic paddling techniques. The guide will accompany the group throughout the tour.
What should I wear, and will I get wet?
Dress for the weather and for being active outdoors. We recommend comfortable clothing that can handle getting a little wet, as some water and spray can enter the kayak. On colder days, wool or fleece layers are a good choice. When the water temperature is low, we use wetsuits for additional safety. Paddling jackets are available to borrow if needed.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The tour can operate in rain and different weather conditions. Our guides are experienced in assessing the local weather and sea conditions and will adapt the route when necessary. If conditions are not safe for kayaking, the tour may be changed or cancelled.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes. The tour is family friendly, with a minimum age of 5 years during the calendar year the child turns 5. Children paddle together with an adult in a tandem kayak.

If trips are cancelled by Uteguiden, either due to extreme weather or too few participants, the cost of the trip will be refunded in full.
