Bergen might belong to Norway on the map, but historically culturally it has been a european enclave nestled within the inhispitable norwegian nature. On this 90-minute walking tour, we guide you through the city’s layered history and vibrant present. Starting at the Tourist Information Center, we set off into streets where every corner has a story.

The first place we wander through is Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed wharf that speaks of Hanseatic trade and Bergen’s european influences. From there, we continue along Øvregaten and Lille Øvregaten, the oldest streets in town - where we speak about Magnus Lagabøte and the reciprocal influence between Bergen and the world through the past millenium. Through Skostredet we head toward Festplassen and Byparken, to discuss Norway’s long struggle for independence and its National Romantic movement - which is intrinsically tied to Bergen .
