Dønna and Herøy islands.

We will stop by Dønna and see the legendary Dønnamannen. Furthermore, we will cross most of the islands and villages around the Herøy islands.

Vega and Vega Islands

The Vega Islands have been named one of the world's 'undiscovered' island gems.

In 2004, Vega was granted World Heritage status, becoming the first Norwegian cultural landscape to achieve such status. At Vega you can enjoy local food from the archipelago and the rest of Helgeland, such as freshly fried cod tongue and Vegagomme. The islands have a very special atmosphere, both when the storm clouds are low and the sun is shining on summer nights.

Along the way, we stop at some of the area's most interesting places, with the goal of taking in the world's most beautiful nature, hiking and enjoying good food, while taking time to relax.

Day by day program

Day (I) Saturday

You arrive in Mosjøen (The City in the Middle of Norway) during the day.

Accommodation at Fru Haugans Hotel

With a stay here, you have the perfect starting point for the next few days that await you.

Feel free to visit the Historic Sea Street, take a stroll in the old 19th century environment and notice the use of old building techniques and tools, details and use of color. Visit the shopkeepers and craftsmen who are located in the street and not least – do as Vefsningen; go to a café – It is buzzing with laughter and chatter and the clinking of coffee cups while countless world problems are "solved". Café culture has long traditions in Mosjøen, and Sjøgata in particular was known for its large number of coffee shops.

Sjøgata has a vibrant environment with shopping, dining, accommodation, galleries, art exhibitions, antiques, museums and guest houses.

When the evening approaches it is time for dinner, Mosjøen should not only be felt, but also tasted.

Day (II) Sunday

You start the day with a well-deserved breakfast. A good breakfast gives the best start to the day.

After breakfast and preferably by 10:00 you drive on to Sandnessjøen (See your route HERE)

On the way to Sandnessjøen you pass several sights, and feel free to make a stop at…

Total driving time Mosjøen – Sandnessjøen, 1 hour.

Around 12: you arrive in Sandnessjøen and here we have set up a tour at Høvdingsete in Sandnes. Here you will be welcomed by the local guide and enthusiastic storyteller who will give you a good insight into "Helgeland in the Viking Age"

Around 14:00 you arrive at the Gågata in Sandnessjøen, here you will find your reserved table at Restaurant Soprano.

Feel free to spend some time in the city, Sandnessjøen and Tjøtta in Alstahaug have some of the oldest settlements in Helgeland. Here you can experience an extensive cultural heritage that extends from the Stone Age and the Viking Age, to the medieval churches and Petter Dass' poetry. You will find a wide range of activities that you may want to participate in, you will find a number of activities HERE.

At approximately 16:00 you will drive on to Herøy and Herøy Islands (See your route HERE)

Upon arrival at Herøy we have booked accommodation for the night at Herøy Brygge.

Herøy and Herøy Islands are a very popular area,

You have taken advantage of a long day and the afternoon, and now it is time for a NEW exciting dining experience.

At the Herøy Brygge restaurant here you will find your table.

Day (III) Monday

A good breakfast gives the best start to the day, a well-deserved breakfast awaits you.

After breakfast and a somewhat leisurely start you will drive out to Etcetera - botanical excesses etc. Please plan to be here around 12:00. The trip from Herøy Brygge to here takes about 15 minutes.

Here we have posted, Visit this fantastic flower shop on Herøy which is run by several times Norwegian champion in flower decoration. In addition to a rich selection of flowers, the shop also has interior design, licorice and chocolate.

Stop by for that little extra. Etcetera - botanical excesses etc. is exactly what the name suggests, and has become an attraction of a flower shop on Herøy! Norwegian champion in flower decoration (2002 and 2014) Tommy Eide has built his own fairy tale world on Herøyholmen. In addition to flowers you will find interior design, books, chocolate and licorice. Welcome!

Lunch Herøy Brygge

At approximately 16:30 you travel further into the Herøy islands and now to Husvær and Havkanten Gjestehus. (See your route HERE) Havkanten Gjestehus, Idyllically located by the water's edge in the old fishing village of Husvær which is located in the west of the archipelago on famous Helgeland. Husvær - Paddlers' paradise, an indescribable island kingdom in the middle of the world's most beautiful coast. Here you will find quiet straits, chalk-white beaches and panoramic views of the Seven Sisters. Perfect for both beginners and experienced paddlers.

Do you want to paddle? Is this something for you, the pass includes kayak and equipment rental. Have a good trip.

Havkanten is an excellent place to just relax, enjoy the silence and calm down. You decide the pace, you decide what you want to do.

At Havkanten you will both live and sleep (2 nights), here you will find very exotic rooms and of course with a sea view that almost takes your breath away. You have free use of the site's hot tubs. ENJOY!

The evening is approaching, it's time for a new culinary experience.

You will be served a taste of Helgeland, a menu composed of what nature has given us today. Food & Wine/local beer, composed carefully tailored to you.

Day (IIII) Tuesday

Welcome to breakfast,

A good breakfast gives the best start to the day.

Now we will take you to Vega and the world heritage area. The unique cultural landscape with eider tradition was the most important reason why the Vega Islands were granted world heritage status in 2004. Therefore, most of the world heritage area is located in the archipelago outside the main island. But also the high mountains on the south side of Vega and the wetlands on the north of the island have been granted world heritage status. These areas provide insight into other parts of the rich natural and cultural history of the archipelago.

Vega Island is one of only eight Norwegian areas on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Your itinerary today will be slightly different from the previous days. Now you will be able to leave the car. We will drive you out to the Hurtigbåt quay and from here you will take the Hurtigbåt to Vega. The trip takes about 1 hour, and is a great experience in itself.

You arrive at Vega and the World Heritage Centre.

At approximately 3:30 PM you will return to Husvær and Havkanten Guesthouse.

After a long day out on Vega we will set off for a quiet afternoon, you decide the pace and what you want to fill the afternoon with. If you fancy a fishing trip, this is included in your passport and the fishing trip runs from approximately 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

It is almost 8:00 PM. We will not reveal the menu, but you have free choice of a three-course dinner chosen from the resort's very extensive menu.

After dinner or a little later, the resort's sauna, heated for you!

Day (V) Wednesday

Breakfast. We all have to have breakfast.

We travel to Dønna (See your route HERE)

Dønna is one of the largest islands in Helgeland. Here you will find lofty peaks, fjords with fish, food straight from the cultural landscape and a rich cultural history.

You will come to Sjokoladebrygga, formerly Heidi's Sjokoladedrøm Perhaps the world's smallest chocolate factory is located at Stavsengkaia on Dønna. Here we produce, serve and sell high-quality chocolate in beautiful surroundings.

Heidi and her team welcome you with passion.

Coming to us should be a good and relaxing experience. We are concerned with sustainability, but it is not just about how you take care of the environment around you, it is just as much about taking care of yourself!

The pier is beautifully located in the landscape with a view of the mountain Dønnamannen. Here it is easy to relax, and our pier girls will ensure a pleasant atmosphere.

We have planned for you to spend plenty of time here and of course you must also have a real lunch today. Lunch is served at about 14:00 which in turn means time for scheduled activities out here.

Day (VI) Wednesday

Welcome to the breakfast buffet.

The last day of the trip but we still have some "airy" soars left.

Around 11:00 you will be picked up by our partner HiNorth and Mosjøen Zipline.

Northern Norway's longest and most spectacular zipline will let you feel the blood rushing through your body. Here you will get your last breath of Mosjøen and that from a bird's eye view.
