Guided full-day cycling tour from Sandnessjøen through the island landscapes of Dønna and Herøy. The tour combines beautiful coastal scenery, local food, culture and memorable experiences along the way. Bicycle, necessary equipment, guide, pizza and boat transport are included.

Island hopping by bike: from Sandnessjøen via Dønna to Herøy
Experience the Helgeland coast from the saddle. A full day of island hopping between sea and mountains, with wide open coastal scenery, views of some of Nordland's most famous landmarks and freshly baked Neapolitan pizza along the way. This is the tour where everything is taken care of for you: transport, bikes, guide and food, from start to finish until you are back in Sandnessjøen.
The day begins at Sandnessjøen ferry quay, just a couple of minutes' walk from Scandic Syv Søstre. The ferry across to Bjørn on Dønna is free for foot passengers, and the crossing between the islands is a lovely warm-up for the day ahead.
At Bjørn, you will meet a local guide who accompanies you for the entire cycling route. We roll along through beautiful coastal scenery, framed by the mountain Dønnamannen and the Seven Sisters range, with wide views over the sea and the islands.
After the day's longest stretch, a well-earned break awaits at Skolo, the award-winning old schoolhouse by the sea, with Neapolitan pizza from the wood-fired oven and time to recharge. Tables are reserved and the pizza is included.
The tour then continues through Herøy, with a stop at Etcetera Botaniske Utskeielser: a lush world of wonders created by a multiple Norwegian champion in floral design, full of surprises from room to room, right down to the flower-decorated toilet. Here you can buy coffee and a little something special.
The tour rounds off at Herøy rural museum and the beautiful Herøy church, before the cycling route ends at the quay. Here we take care of the bikes and equipment while you settle in for the journey home. Boat ticket and transport all the way back to Scandic Syv Søstre are included, a calm end to an active day.

Meeting point
Sandnessjøen ferry quay at 11:25, just two minutes' walk from Scandic Syv Søstre. The ferry to Bjørn departs at 11:40 and is free for foot passengers. Your guide will meet you at Bjørn ferry quay when the ferry arrives at 12:10, and the bikes will be ready where the tour begins.
It is also possible to meet directly at Bjørn ferry quay at 12:10.

Wednesday: the return journey is by express boat from Flostad (Herøy) at 17:15, direct to Sandnessjøen town centre, arriving at 17:40, just a few minutes' walk from the hotel.
Saturday: the return journey is by ferry from Herøy at 16:45 to Søvik, with onward transport to Scandic Syv Søstre, arriving at approx. 17:45.
If the express boat is cancelled (Wednesday): Herøy ferry quay is right next to the express boat quay, and we then take the ferry to Søvik with onward transport to the hotel, the same reliable solution as on the Saturday tours. Arrival will then be approximately one hour later than planned.
All practical information, including recommended clothing, is sent to you automatically upon booking.
This is the tour for you if you want to experience the Helgeland islands actively: cycling at a moderate pace, local food, spectacular scenery and a safe setting where all the logistics are taken care of.

If you wish to change the date or activity, we will do our best to find a suitable solution. However, changes cannot be guaranteed. If a change is not possible, our standard cancellation policy applies.
Cancellation policy for guided tours
Cancellations made at least 14 days before the tour start will be refunded with 90% of the total amount.
Cancellations made between 14 and 7 days before the tour start will be refunded with 50% of the total amount.
Cancellations made less than 7 days before the tour start are non-refundable.
The amount is charged in NOK from your card on the booking date. In the event of a refund, the amount received in another currency may vary due to the exchange rate on the day the refund is processed.
Changes or cancellation from our side
H. Karlsen Drift AS / Karlsen Kajakk & Sykkel and our partners reserve the right to change or cancel the activity if necessary due to safety reasons, weather conditions, logistics, changed ferry schedules or too few participants.
If we cancel the activity, you will be offered an alternative date or a similar activity. If you do not wish to accept this, you will receive a full refund.
Safety and responsibility
Participation is at your own risk. Participants must follow the guide’s instructions and act in a way that does not put themselves or others at risk. The guide may refuse further participation if a participant does not follow safety instructions or is considered unfit to complete the activity.
Jurisdiction
Our booking terms and any agreement they cover are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes, claims or matters arising in connection with the booking or delivery of the activity shall be handled under Norwegian law.
