What is the Otra River Tour?

The Otra River Tour is a guided kayak trip where you paddle with the current through a constantly changing landscape. We start in the scenic area of Mosby, north of Kristiansand, and follow the calm river southward. Along the way, we pass green forests, open riverbanks, old farms, and bridges before gently entering the city center.

The tour ends at Kjøita, just outside Kristiansand’s historic and urban downtown area (Kvadraturen). The total experience lasts about 3 hours, with around 2 hours of actual paddling at a relaxed pace, including the option for breaks along the way. If the weather is warm and we’re on schedule, we might even take a refreshing swim in the river.

We start with a thorough and safe introduction to paddling technique, safety, and how to use the kayak properly. Our kayaks are very stable, and all equipment is adjusted to suit your body and comfort.

Our guide will be with you the whole way – ensuring you feel safe, seen, and well cared for. We paddle in small groups, so you can always ask questions and get help if you need it.

An accessible adventure – for everyone

The Otra River Tour is suitable for adults and children from the age of 10, as long as children are accompanied by an adult. We also offer private tours for families or groups, tailored to your needs.

Practical Information

Duration: 2.5–3 hours
Price: 1,490 NOK per person
Starting point: Odderøyveien 5, 4610 Kristiansand. Meet outside the white house with the sign “Anno 1918.” This is also the main office of Natur Norge / Nature Norway. From here, we drive you 10–15 minutes to the river. The paddling starts from there.
End point: The tour finishes at Kjøita 10, 4630 Kristiansand. It’s about a 15-minute walk back to the city center, or about 25 minutes to the starting point – perfect for some sightseeing on the way back. If return transport is a problem, we can help you book a taxi.
Parking: Both free and paid parking options are available in the area
Age limit: 10 years
Experience required: None – no prior experience needed
Equipment: All gear included – kayak, paddle, life jacket, and spray skirt
Languages: Norwegian and English – perfect for international guests
Meeting time: Please arrive a few minutes before the scheduled start. No need to be there 20–30 minutes early – we often arrive just a few minutes before we begin.
