About the experience

Explore our unique Altafjord and experience the mighty king crab up close by car. Visit the UNESCO site and the Alta Museum.

Our unique Altafjord is rich in culture, wildlife, and a nutrient-filled fjord that has sustained human harvesting for thousands of years. On the journey from Alta Harbor to our destination, you'll experience spectacular natural surroundings close to the city and gain insights into the unique history of Alta's rock art, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival at our harbor, you'll meet the mighty king crab in our aquarium and learn about its fascinating history, as well as how this resource is utilized today in both fishing and cuisine. You will also get to taste this delicacy before we head back, stopping at the Alta Museum. Here, you will have one hour to explore the unique exhibitions that tell the rich history of Alta, including stories of two UNESCO World Heritage locations.

After meeting the king crab, you also have the option to book a king crab feast in our restaurant or enjoy a delicious local fish soup made with seasonal ingredients like cod, halibut, saithe, or salmon. This must be pre-booked when reserving your tour.
