A true adventure in the heart of wild Norwegian nature.
Join us for an unforgettable day tour to Tunsbergdalsbreen – the longest arm of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. Here, raw and breathtaking nature awaits, offering an experience few others get to enjoy.
The area is nearly inaccessible without a boat, giving us our own hidden gem – far from crowds and queues.
The adventure begins with a 15–20 minute boat ride across Tunsbergdalsvatnet from Leirdalen. Snow-covered mountains tower above us while waterfalls tumble down the cliffs – a powerful natural spectacle in itself.
From the shore, we follow the trail along the rushing glacier river into the national park. The hike is at a leisurely pace with plenty of breaks for food, drinks, and photography. The terrain is easy to walk, with a gentle incline leading us steadily closer to the glacier.
A short while after our lavvu we will take a turn into a vally, where Tunsbergdalsbreen reveals itself in all its glory.
At the glacier edge, you’ll receive the necessary equipment, and the guide provides a introduction to its use.
Then it’s time to explore an entirely unique world of ice:
- Walk among stunning blue ice formations and natural ice sculptures
- Look down into deep crevasses and blue ice holes
- And if we’re lucky, discover ice tunnels and small passages formed by meltwater that we can explore
We take our time on the glacier, giving you a genuine sense of being part of this extraordinary landscape before we make our way back to the boat.
This is more than just a tour – it’s a journey into the heart of nature, where few are allowed to tread.
