Two contrasting fjord branches, roadless settlements, and dramatic landscapes – the most complete RIB safari from Ulvik.
About the experience
Two contrasting fjord branches, roadless settlements, and dramatic landscapes – the most complete RIB safari from Ulvik.
This is the most comprehensive RIB safari from Ulvik – a longer and more varied fjord experience that takes you from wide-open fjord landscapes into narrow, secluded fjord arms deep inside the Hardangerfjord.
Your journey begins in Ulvik, cruising across the Hardangerfjord toward the iconic Hardanger Bridge – Norway’s longest suspension bridge and a striking landmark in the fjord landscape. From here, we continue into the Simadalsfjord near Eidfjord, a dramatic fjord branch defined by steep mountain walls, waterfalls, and powerful natural scenery shaped by both nature and human history.
We then head further into the Osafjord, a 13 km long and narrow fjord branch where the road ends and the sea was once the only connection to the outside world. Along the way, you’ll pass abandoned farms and roadless fjord settlements, where silence and landscape tell the story of life lived close to the fjord.
We make several scenic stops during the tour, giving you time to take in the contrasts, capture photos, and fully experience the surroundings. Your local guide shares stories about nature, history, and everyday life along the fjord. With a bit of luck, we may spot seals, porpoises, or sea eagles.
This tour offers a well-balanced combination of speed and calm. On open stretches, you’ll feel the power of the RIB, while inside the fjord arms we slow down – allowing the atmosphere, details, and quiet moments to take centre stage.
