From the ridge, you can enjoy incredible views of Trollveggen, Romsdalen and the Rauma River winding through the valley below. On clear days, the views stretch all the way to the fjord. The trail takes you through an impressive mountain landscape surrounded by peaks rising over 1,800 metres.
We'll take several breaks along the way to enjoy the scenery, take photos and recharge. If you'd like to enjoy a taste of the region, you can add a locally prepared lunch package when booking.

Important information about the tour
The hike starts in Vengedalen and finishes in Åndalsnes town centre. This is a point-to-point hike, so we do not recommend driving your own car to the starting point, as you will not return there at the end of the tour.
We recommend taking the bus from Åndalsnes town centre to Vengedalen. Bus tickets can be booked independently or added as an extra when booking your tour with us.

How difficult is the Romsdalseggen hike?
Romsdalseggen is a physically demanding mountain hike of approximately 11 kilometres, with around 970 metres of elevation gain and 1,215 metres of descent. You should be in good physical condition and accustomed to longer hikes in varied mountain terrain.
Do I need previous hiking experience?
Yes, we recommend having experience with longer hikes on uneven mountain terrain. No climbing experience is required, but you should be comfortable with steep trails, rocky ground and exposed sections.
Is this hike suitable for people who are afraid of heights?
Parts of Romsdalseggen follow an exposed mountain ridge with steep slopes on either side. We therefore do not recommend this hike if you have a strong fear of heights or feel uncomfortable in exposed mountain terrain.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The hike can take place in rainy weather, but strong winds, poor visibility or other challenging weather conditions may affect safety. The guide will assess the conditions and may adjust the route or cancel the tour if it is not safe to proceed.
Are transport and lunch included?
No, neither the Romsdalseggen bus ticket nor lunch is included in the tour price. Both can easily be added as extras when booking.

Minimum number of participants are 2. If there are too few, you will be offered to reschedule or join one of our other tours. If you decide not to reschedule or join another tour, you will be refunded.
Cancellation
If trips are cancelled by Uteguiden, either due to extreme weather or too few participants, the cost of the trip will be refunded in full.
