Lighthouse Safari to Utvær from Gulen and Solund

Utvær is Norway’s westernmost archipelago, home to the country’s westernmost lighthouse. The place has a strong sense of history and a fascinating natural setting, located far out on the edge of the open sea. The view from the top of the lighthouse is spectacular! Every Saturday from late June to mid-August, you can join a lighthouse safari.

The trip begins with a beautiful boat journey through islands, skerries and islets at the outer edge of the Sognefjord. After a stop at Nåra in Ytre Sula, the boat continues through narrow sounds and island communities before taking you all the way out to Utvær, far out in the open sea. The boat skipper provides light commentary along the way.

On Utvær, you will walk the North Sea Trail around the island together with a guide. Along the route, you can see remains of a chapel that was moved from Utvær in 1718, as well as marks from sword sharpening. The trail is approximately 1.5 km long and mostly follows uneven terrain. Upon reaching Utvær Lighthouse, those who wish can climb the lighthouse to enjoy the breathtaking view.

Every Saturday in the period from 27 June to 8 August, you can join the lighthouse safari from Eivindvik, Sollibotn, Skjerjehamn and Hardbakke.

16:45 - Arrival at Eivindvik (the boat connects with the express boat from Sogn to Bergen, departing Sollibotn at 19:05)

It is also possible to disembark at Skjerjehamn on the return journey. Here you can enjoy a good dinner before continuing towards Bergen. Note: Skjerjehamn is a request stop*. You must therefore contact the vessel to inform them that you wish to be picked up at Skjerjehamn.

For passengers arriving from the north by express boat, return transport to Hardbakke is arranged, with connections to the bus to Krakhella and the express boat heading north. For safety reasons, please inform the crew when boarding in Hardbakke if you are travelling onward by the 15:20 bus.
